Liverpool FC are not interested in Napoli’s Faouzi Ghoulam and would rather a straight cash sale of Alberto Moreno this summer.
According to James Pearce of the Liverpool ECHO, recent reports that the Reds are in for Napoli left-back Faouzi Ghoulam are wide of the mark.
Rumours had surfaced last week that the Reds would use Napoli’s interest in Moreno to procure a swap deal, seeing the unsettled Algerian come the other way.
However, Pearce claims the Reds are not interested in the defender and want £15m of straight cash for Alberto Moreno.
Despite rejecting an £11m bid from the Italian club for Moreno’s services, the club are said to be confident of offloading the Spaniard with AC Milan, Inter Milan and Sevilla all rumoured to be sniffing around, while Swansea City have supposedly seen a £13m bid turned away as well.
Moreno has made 109 appearances for the club since arriving in 2014 from Sevilla but has been deemed surplus to requirements after James Milner put in an impressive shift at left back last season.
The Reds are said to be looking for an understudy to provide Milner with competition this summer, rather than an out-and-out first choice left back who would walk straight into the starting XI.
The club had previously enquired about Fulham’s Ryan Sessegnon who opted to stay in London while Benjamin Mendy of Monaco had also been touted as a target but it is now thought he will sign for Manchester City.
