According to Football Whispers, Liverpool have received a £13m bid for Alberto Moreno from Premier League side Swansea City.
In an exclusive, Sam McGuire reveals for Football Whispers that Swansea City have bid £13 million for out of favour left back Alberto Moreno who looks set for an Anfield exit this summer.
Napoli had a bid rejected midweek worth €11 million.
Liverpool are yet to respond to the formal offer from the Swans as they weigh up their options with there being no reason to rush a decision at this stage of the summer.
Moreno is, as Sam McGuire puts it, “a man in demand,” with Real Sociedad, Southampton, Napoli and Swansea City all interested in the 24-year-old fullback.
Even if Liverpool deem Moreno as surplus to requirements, there are plenty of clubs around Europe that would welcome him with open arms.
Liverpool haven’t responded to Swansea’s offer and are believed to want at least £15 million for his services as the Reds look to make a little profit on the £12 million they invested in 2014.
Last season, James Milner was Liverpool’s go-to left-back as Moreno proved himself unreliable as early as the first game of the season with a lunging tackle conceding a penalty to Arsenal.
Although the penalty was well saved by Simon Mignolet, his poor positional awareness was exposed soon after by Theo Walcott who slotted home.
Liverpool are in the market this summer for a new left-back and this leaves Moreno in a position where he would be playing very little football as Milner would still be second choice ahead of him.
An exit this summer suits all parties and will appease supporters who find Moreno’s presence on Merseyside pointless if it’s unlikely he will ever be the club’s first-choice fullback.
Klopp has yet to sell a player this summer even though he has signed two in Dominic Solanke and record buy Mohamed Salah.
