New signing Dominic Solanke scored 4 goals in 6 matches, earning himself the Player of the Tournament award as England won the U20 World Cup.

There wasn’t a lot of excitement when it was announced Liverpool had agreed terms to bring Chelsea youth striker Dominic Solanke to Merseyside but he’s certainly winning over the doubters at a rapid rate!

The 19-year old striker played a key role in England’s U20 side winning the World Cup this summer, scoring four goals and finishing the tournament with the honour of being named ‘Player of the Tournament.’

In doing so, he follows in the footsteps of world class talents such as Sergio Aguero, Paul Pogba and a certain Lionel Messi who have all been recipients of the coveted ‘Golden Ball.’ Of course, I’m not saying he’s going to be the next Messi but it’s always nice to see your young talents performing on the big stage.

His presence will surely bolster Mike Garrity’s Under 23 squad when he officially joins on July 1st and it will hardly come as a surprise to see him given a chance in the first team throughout the upcoming season with the Reds having to navigate four competitions.
