Liverpool have received an injury boost, with the news that first team players Roberto Firmino and Joel Matip are expected to be fit for the Reds’ Premier League match against Bournemouth, according to Sky Sports.
The pair missed Tuesday night’s 2-0 EFL Cup quarter-final win over Leeds United, with manager Jürgen Klopp previously confirming that Firmino suffered a calf problem whilst Matip missed out as a precaution.
However, both striker and defender are set to be recalled by Klopp as the German switches his focus back to Liverpool’s league campaign.
This news, without a doubt, comes as a great relief to Reds fans and one that will surely lighten the burden of disappointment, following the recent news of playmaker Philippe Coutinho’s lengthy lay-off.
Firmino and Matip have been just as important as the little Brazilian, with one providing goals and assists at one end of the pitch and the other simply doing well to prevent them flowing in at the other.
The duo will look to continue their fine run of form with another trip to the South Coast as will Liverpool, whose early title challenge faces yet another stern test.
