Liverpool’s forward line revamp is finally starting to gather some pace after a move for Bradley Barcola stepped forward over the weekend.

But Barcola may not be the only Paris Saint-Germain player on his way to Anfield this summer, after French outlet RMC Sport reported that the Reds were one of the teams to make an enquiry over signing Ibrahim Mbaye.

Mbaye looks likely to leave PSG this summer, and after Liverpool legend Sadio Mane praised the 18-year-old during last year’s AFCON, it is clear what he could add to Andoni Iraola’s squad.

Mane believes Mbaye has an ‘exceptional’ future

How Liverpool would love to have a player like Mane available on the market right now. The 34-year-old remains one of the Reds’ best ever wide forwards.

As they try and replicate the speed, goal-scoring threat and willingness to win that Mane brought, though, they could do worse than looking at Mbaye.

The pair are teammates for Senegal, where Mbaye starred at this summer’s World Cup. That was the youngster’s second experience of tournament football for the Africans, as he played during last year’s AFCON, which Senegal won.

After featuring as a second-half substitute during the group stage match against DR Congo, Mane singled Mbaye out for some special praise.

“Seventeen years old and at this level, I think it’s impressive,” said the Senegal captain. “He has a bright future ahead of him.

“We will try to help him find the right rhythm so that he can help us even more, because he is an exceptional player.”

The market seems to be well aware of Mbaye’s talents, and Liverpool are far from the only team in for the PSG wide man.

But as they search for more additions to bolster Iraola’s attack, they should listen to Mane and think long and hard about a move for Mbaye.
