Jurgen Klopp takes two former Liverpool coaches with him to join the German national team

Jurgen Klopp is officially back in management after being announced as the new boss of the German national team.

The former Liverpool manager had been earmarked to join Die Mannschaft to replace Julian Nagelsmann after a woeful World Cup performance saw them knocked out in the round of 32 against Paraguay.

And Klopp has ended two years away from the touchline by penning a four-year contract, which will see him take charge of Liverpool‘s Florian Wirtz from August 15th.

The 59-year-old has also put the Liverpool band back together, with confirmation arriving from the DFB that Pep Lijnders and Peter Krawietz will both arrive as Klopp’s assistants.

Krawietz had been out of work since leaving Liverpool along with Klopp in 2024, while Lijnders tried his hand at management with RB Salzburg, before joining Man City as Pep Guardiola’s assistant last season.

Interestingly, the former Liverpool pair will be joined by one of Klopp’s former players, with Sven Bender, once of Borussia Dortmund, also arriving on the team.
