Liverpool still haven’t found their direct replacement for Mohamed Salah, but fans don’t think Maghnes Akliouche will be that man.

The Reds were linked with the AS Monaco talent earlier this year and were told at the time that Akliouche’s price tag could go up.

The Frenchman is once again back on Liverpool’s radar post-World Cup, with suggestions that a bid has been submitted for the winger.

However, fans are of the opinion that Akliouche is simply not a quick enough player for the Reds.

Fans say Maghnes Akliouche is too slow for Liverpool

Just some of the reaction to the Akliouche rumour can be seen below, with it even claimed that he has a lower top speed than goalkeeper Alisson Becker:

Liverpool made it clear they want fast attackers

Liverpool fan backlash towards a deal for Akliouche follows on from the club already making it obvious that they want quicker forwards.

Luis Diaz and Darwin Nunez left in 2025, meaning the Reds’ frontline, which was largely made up of Cody Gakpo and an ageing Mohamed Salah last season, took a major hit on the pace front.

As a result, it was not surprising to see Arne Slot speaking about the need for more pace shortly before last season’s winter transfer window.

He said: “That was one of the things I wanted to add to this team – incredible pace. Because I see many of the top teams have one, two, three individuals that have pace that is exceptional.”

Elsewhere, it was mentioned back in May that Liverpool think they will be a different team in 2026/27 once more pace is added to their attack.

But from what we’ve seen of Akliouche so far, he doesn’t seem to possess that attribute.
