Liverpool are potentially in the market for a new midfielder this summer, with Roma’s Manu Kone continuing to be linked with the Reds.

Kone almost joined Liverpool in 2023, but a late-summer injury eventually seemed to make the Reds’ mind up not to buy him from Borussia Monchengladbach.

The 25-year-old has since moved to Roma, and after forcing his way into France’s starting XI at the World Cup, Liverpool are claimed to be interested once again. Now, according to Italian outlet Corriere dello Sport, a definitive price-tag has emerged.

How high should Liverpool go to sign Bradley Barcola from PSG?

Maybe Liverpool would be better off signing two or three €50m players…

Liverpool can buy Kone for €60m

Tall, athletic and rangy, Kone could be the physical presence Liverpool have been missing in their midfield.

He has certainly been impressive at the World Cup for France, and according to CdS, Roma, in a difficult financial bind, are hoping that his good performances can increase his price-tag.

They claim that Kone is ‘untouchable’ for Roma at the money currently being offered by Atletico Madrid, which is said to be €40m.

This is reportedly too low, and, emboldened by Kone’s performances on the world stage, the Italian club have reportedly set a price of €60m to sell him.

This message is claimed to have been delivered to intermediaries, with Liverpool named as one of two further clubs ‘monitoring the situation’, along with Manchester United.

United have since made a move to sign Youri Tielemans to go with the arrival of Andrey Santos from Chelsea. With Michael Carrick potentially now filling his midfield slots, that may leave Liverpool as the most likely destination for Kone.
