Liverpool could perform Curtis Jones to Inter Milan U-turn just before pre-season return

Liverpool may reportedly still entertain a sale of Curtis Jones to Inter Milan, despite previously dismissing the Italian side as candidates to sign him.

Jones had looked all set for a move to Italy this summer, but with the Serie A champions offering what Liverpool saw as a derisory opening offer for his services, they seemingly closed the door on the move.

That had looked to be that for the time being, but according to journalist Ben Jacobs, Inter are plotting another attempt, and could still get close to the number needed for Liverpool to allow Jones to leave.

How does Andoni Iraola fit Wirtz and Isak into Liverpool’s starting XI next season?

Will we finally see the best of them after encouraging World Cups?

Inter ready to try again for Jones

Jones is expected back at the AXA Training Centre to begin work under new Reds boss Andoni Iraola on Tuesday.

There will surely be some discussions between Iraola and his No. 17 during the day, in which it should become clearer whether the Scouser could still have a future with Liverpool.

Meanwhile, Jacobs posted on X to report the latest on his pending move to Milan.

“Inter are considering a new bid for Curtis Jones despite seeing a €25m approach instantly rejected,” he said.

“Liverpool prepared to keep Jones if their €40m+ valuation isn’t met. Still waiting for new formal talks.

“Inter’s last verbal approach had led Liverpool to conclude a deal wasn’t possible, but the Serie A side are currently discussing a new proposal.”

Rumours had begun to surface over the weekend that Jones had agreed terms on a move to Nottingham Forest, but they appear to have been wide of the mark.

Instead, Inter still looks like the most likely destination for Jones if he is to leave Liverpool. Tuesday will be a big day in this saga as the 25-year-old returns home. From there, as long as the Italians do not mess them about too much, the Reds will surely let him go.
