What Bradley Barcola’s comments about his future really mean for Liverpool’s hopes of signing him

Bradley Barcola has admitted that he does not know where his future lies after rumours that Liverpool are pushing to sign him.

Recent reports have claimed that Paris Saint-Germain would be looking for at least £116m to sell Barcola this summer, cooling suggestions that he could be on his way to Anfield.

However, the Frenchman has now hinted that a PSG exit may well be on the cards for him, with journalist Fabrizio Romano stirring the pot by telling online Liverpool fan accounts that Barcola is more likely to leave than stay.

Will we finally see the best of them after encouraging World Cups?

Barcola’s comments likely to mean exit is coming

Barcola has been having a good World Cup, forcing his way into the French starting line-up and scoring twice so far.

After Yan Diomande decided against joining Liverpool, Barcola’s good performances have fuelled hope from Reds fans that he could join.

“I’m focused on the World Cup. What happens after that, I don’t know,” said the 23-year-old.

Romano has been a mischievous voice in this particular transfer saga so far, consistently urging Liverpool fans to keep an eye on Barcola and his situation, even when interest in Diomande was at its peak.

And the Italian reporter was at it again after X account The Anfield Talk teased that he was giving Liverpool fans hope that a deal could be done.

“I’m not Barcola mate. He told you now what I always told you: future open,” Romano replied, complete with a shrugging emoji.

“If he was not leaving, he had a chance to say: I’m staying. Simple as that.”

Although, as he rightly points out, Romano is not Barcola, and cannot know what is going on inside the PSG star’s head, it is often not without cause that he will push a story so confidently.

As a result, it seems very, very likely that, despite PSG’s bold stance, this is definitely not the last we have heard of Barcola and Liverpool.
