Liverpool are searching for a new top winger target this summer having seen Yan Diomande choose to join Paris Saint-Germain.
There is no guarantee that Diomande leaves RB Leipzig but, if he does, he will not be moving to Anfield.
While that is a shame for Liverpool supporters who were excited to see him join the Reds, there are other options out there who could now be targeted. One of them is Bournemouth’s Rayan, who has a slightly complex release clause woven into his contract at Dean Court.
Who should Liverpool’s new top target be after being rejected by Yan Diomande?
This is a BIG blow to the Reds' summer plans 😓
Rayan’s £130m release clause triggers in January
Liverpool were linked with Rayan before he joined Bournemouth, and having seen the 19-year-old hit the ground running under Andoni Iraola, they will be kicking themselves that they didn’t push harder to get him.
There have been suggestions that Iraola wants to take Rayan with him to Anfield, but Bournemouth are in a strong position with the Brazilian, who cost them around £30m including add-ons in January 2026.
As The Athletic reported earlier in June, the Cherries have a fixed clause fee of £130m on Rayan, but it will not come into effect until January 2027.

As a result, if Liverpool wanted to sign Rayan this summer, they would have to negotiate a fee with Bournemouth.
It has subsequently been claimed that the Brazil international’s clause will lower in price in each subsequent window from next summer onwards, although there have been no specifics about what the price reduction could amount to.
Liverpool were seemingly willing to spend up to £100m on Diomande, and it will now be fascinating to see whether they think Rayan is worth pursuing at what would likely be a similar fee.
