Liverpool are reportedly one of the teams angling to sign Rafael Leao after the winger confirmed that he wants to leave AC Milan this summer.

Leao spoke to Portuguese station Sport TV on Saturday to provide an update on his future, claiming that he felt it would now lie away from Milan.

Liverpool are looking for wingers this summer, and as they aim to spend big money on either Yan Diomande or Bradley Barcola, Calciomercato claim that Leao is also on their radar for a much smaller fee.

What role do you see for Federico Chiesa under Andoni Iraola at Liverpool?

Should he be given a bigger role as the Reds look for new attackers?

Milan may sell Leao for less than €50m

Though Liverpool supporters would like to see both Diomande and Barcola arrive this summer, the reality is that the Reds will need to buy one more expensive and one cheaper winger.

Leao could seemingly provide a top-quality, bargain bin option, with Calciomercato reporting that Milan would be happy to sell him for €50-60m, but are also accepting that his public wish to leave could have lowered the figure even further.

With two years left on his contract, this summer seems like a natural time to part with Leao for the Rossoneri, and Premier League clubs are claimed to be leading the way to sign him.

Liverpool are reportedly in the mix here, with the Reds said to be ‘keeping an eye on the deal’ along with several of their English rivals.

Turkish and Saudi options are also mentioned, with Milan and Leao set to have plenty of offers in the coming months.

Liverpool sporting director Richard Hughes has so far shown an interest in shopping in the Italian market, and given the needs of the Reds this window, and the price Leao could be available at, this feels like it could be one to watch.

After six years, 80 goals and one Serie A title, the Portugal international will have a new club next season. Not yet 27, he could be an interesting ‘second’ option for Liverpool in their attacking revamp.
