Liverpool will reportedly allow Giorgi Mamardashvili to leave on loan next season and already have an offer for the Georgian.

The goalkeeping situation has been a source of focus for supporters as the season draws to a close, with rumours ramping up that Alisson Becker could leave for Juventus.

However, to the delight of Liverpool fans everywhere, the Reds have told Alisson that they expect him to stay, meaning Mamardashvili may have to contend with another season as number two.

According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, though, the 25-year-old could now spend another season away from Anfield before taking over from Alisson in 2027.

Mamardashvili could leave on loan

It has become clear over the course of the season that Mamardashvili may not be ready to become Liverpool’s number one this summer.

Despite his injuries, Alisson is still head and shoulders above the younger keeper, and with Andy Robertson and Mohamed Salah already departing, it would be a real blow to lose the Brazilian’s leadership on top of that.

Thankfully, Liverpool look to have seen sense, and though Romano makes it clear that Alisson could still push to leave, the most likely outcome appears to be that the 33-year-old stays, with the door then opening for Mamardashvili to leave for more regular game time.

“The situation is now being clarified because Liverpool in the last 24 hours have informed Alisson officially, and those close to him, that they don’t want him to go,” the transfer expert told his YouTube channel on Wednesday.

“So, at the moment the deal is completely off with Juventus. It’s still early, it’s still the end of May, there are three months, I don’t know if Alisson can one day show up at the training ground and say ‘I want to leave, let me go to Juventus’. But at the moment that’s not the case, the relationship is excellent between Alisson and Liverpool, so he doesn’t want to break the legacy he has.

“If Alisson is staying, eventually it could be for Mamardashvili to go one season on loan to play on a regular basis and then return to Liverpool in 2027 as the starting goalkeeper replacing Alisson. This is something the club has to decide, but at the moment they are completely, completely focused on stopping this deal for Alisson.

“They have no intention of letting him go despite him having a big proposal on the table from Juventus.”

Juventus have asked about Mamardashvili

After trying to sign Alisson, Juventus are clearly in the market for a new goalkeeper this summer.

And although that will not be Liverpool’s current number one, Italian journalist Gianluigi Longari has reported that Juve have already turned towards the possibility of bringing Mamardashvili in.

“While awaiting to understand what Liverpool will decide to do with Alisson, Juventus has made inquiries with the Reds regarding the loan of Giorgi Mamardashvili,” he posted on X.

Juve could ultimately then sign Alisson once his Liverpool contract expires in 2027. The Reds would need a reliable number two for a season, but this would seemingly suit everyone.
