Maxence Lacroix would cost Liverpool at least £35m as Crystal Palace exit edges closer
Liverpool are looking for an elite centre-back this summer, and Lacroix has been moving towards that bracket with his performances for Palace.
The 26-year-old has the profile many top clubs now want. He is rapid, physically strong, comfortable defending high up the pitch and proven in the Premier League.
Lacroix is set to play what could be his final match at Selhurst Park against Arsenal, with Fabrice Hawkins claiming a transfer for the Palace defender is already ‘scheduled’ (via X).
He went into further detail in a report for RMC Sport, revealing that there are currently no talks over a new deal, despite Lacroix being under contract until 2029. That makes a transfer possible, but Palace will not let him go easily.
The report adds that it will take at least £35m to open talks. Even then, they warn that may not be enough to convince Palace to sell once the market starts moving.
Liverpool are not believed to be alone either. Chelsea, Aston Villa and Bayern Munich have all previously been credited with interest, which could make this one a competitive race.
Still, the logic is obvious from a Liverpool point of view. Lacroix has the speed to play in a high line, the physicality to handle the Premier League and the ambition to step onto a bigger stage.
Palace have a price. Lacroix appears ready for the next move. Now Liverpool need to decide whether they are ready to push.
