Liverpool’s potential move for RB Leipzig talent Yan Diomande has taken another twist this week, with a deal still possible.
For much of the 2025/26 season, Diomande to Anfield has been mooted as a serious option, with those links not going away after it was confirmed that Mohamed Salah is leaving at the end of the campaign.
However, in a recent interview, the winger claimed he would be staying at RB Leipzig this summer, simply replying ‘yes’ when asked if he’s remaining put.
But a move cannot be ruled out, with the Liverpool target still potentially on the move for ‘well above €100m’.

Previously, a price-tag of €100m (£87m), was thought to have been the magic number required to tempt Leipzig into a sale.
But the German outfit have secured Champions League football for next season and are seemingly in a strong bargaining position when it comes to the forward.
Journalist Philipp Hinze has claimed that ‘Leipzig are planning talks with Yan Diomande‘ over a new deal, but despite this, a transfer in the coming months ‘cannot be ruled out’.
He stated: “Leipzig are planning talks with Yan Diomande and Roc Nation in the coming days/weeks over an improved contract after his strong debut Bundesliga season. His current fixed salary is under €2m annually, with bonuses paid on top.
“Both salary and bonus structure are set to increase. Meanwhile, the legal dispute between his old and new agency continues in the background. Diomande has made it clear to Leipzig that Roc Nation handles his affairs.
“A summer exit still cannot be ruled out depending on the size of potential offers. However, any bid would have to be well above €100m. Leipzig are under no pressure to sell Diomande.”

Liverpool’s alternative to Yan Diomande
While Diomande still being available is good news for Liverpool, that price tag is becoming a little silly.
He is obviously a top talent with huge potential, but he has had one good season in the Bundesliga, which does not warrant such a sum being paid for his services.
Instead, Liverpool should push ahead with their interest in Bazoumana Toure of Hoffenheim.
He has five goals and 12 assists in the German top flight this term and could be sold for much less than Diomande.
Hoffenheim want a club record fee for Toure, but at present, their previous biggest sale was Newcastle United’s signing of Joelinton for £40m in 2019.
