Reported Liverpool target Eduardo Camavinga has not changed his mind on leaving Real Madrid despite being left out of France’s World Cup squad on Thursday.
It has been a difficult season for the former Rennes midfielder, one which was compounded as he became the highest profile player to be overlooked by Didier Deschamps for this summer’s tournament.
Amid his struggles for form in Madrid, Camavinga has been linked with Liverpool, who are likely to be searching for a new midfielder during the summer window.

But according to journalist Fabrizio Romano, the 23-year-old is not intending to leave Madrid.
Camavinga wants to stay at Real Madrid
A box-to-box midfielder with excellent defensive abilities, Camavinga could be an ideal signing for Liverpool.
Though he has lost his way at the Bernabeu, the Frenchman’s situation has echoes of Ryan Gravenberch’s struggles at Bayern Munich in 2023. If he is available, Liverpool should be interested.
According to Romano, though, if it is up to Camavinga himself, then he will continue as a Real Madrid player. Providing an update for his YouTube channel on Thursday, the transfer expert claimed that while an exit cannot be totally ruled out, the spurned France star’s priority is to stay and fight his way back to form for Los Blancos.

“My understanding remains the same as it was two weeks ago: Eduardo Camavinga doesn’t want to leave Real Madrid,” says Romano.
“He’s not connecting Real Madrid’s problems with his own problems. He believes that it was an unlucky season, but he loves Real Madrid and wants to play for Real Madrid. The intention of the player is to stay.
“If a big proposal comes in the summer we have to see what happens,” he adds. “Real Madrid could be open to discussions, but they are not considering him a player who has to leave the club, out of the project. Not at all. They could be open to discussions, but the player has to be open to discussions too, and at the moment my understanding is that Camavinga wants to fight for his place at Real Madrid.
“Obviously, difficult moment, difficult season. This story with the France national team leaving him out is obviously complicated for Cama, but he will fight to be back in the squad for the future.”
Though it sounds like he may need some convincing, Liverpool should test Madrid’s resolve with a decent-sized approach. With the promise of a starting spot in the Reds’ midfield, surely Camavinga’s head can still be turned to start afresh this summer.
