Liverpool fans are hoping to see Mohamed Salah for what will be the penultimate time in a Liverpool shirt as they visit Villa Park on Friday night.

The home of Aston Villa played host to Jurgen Klopp’s final away match with the Reds two years ago, and, by chance, will now do the same for Salah, providing he is fit.

Throughout his nine years with Liverpool, the Egyptian has always preferred playing at Anfield, with 108 of his 193 Premier League goals coming on home turf.

Should Curtis Jones keep his place at right-back against Aston Villa?

Or is Joe Gomez a better option?

He has been lethal on the road as well, though, with only three players in the division’s history able to match his tally of goal contributions.

Salah sits fourth on all-time away Premier League table

Salah playing at Anfield has been a virtual guarantee of goals for almost a decade. But he has made other stadiums his home as well.

Old Trafford has famously been one of his favourite haunts, and it should be no surprise that the 33-year-old has some esteemed company in the all-time Premier League stakes.

With 83 goals and 47 assists, Salah has hit an almighty 130 goal contributions away from home, the fourth highest in history.

Had he been in better form this season, the Liverpool legend would likely have caught all of Wayne Rooney, Ryan Giggs and Harry Kane, who sit just ahead of him.

Rooney’s 139 tops the pile, with Giggs (137) in second and Kane (135) sitting third.

Salah will edge closer to the trio if he scores or assists at Villa Park, but it would take a very special performance for him to get into the top three.

Nevertheless, it is one more statistic which underlines what a special player he has been in English football, and further enhances his claim to be one of the very best the Premier League has ever seen. One more trip for Salah, and then an emotional Anfield farewell awaits.
