Liverpool reportedly have high hopes that 15-year-old midfielder Luca Eden can continue to develop impressively at the club.

The Reds have arguably not utilised their academy enough under Arne Slot, despite feelings from many that there is more talent than ever being brought through at Kirkby.

Eden looks to be one of the brightest of the lot, with journalist James Peace reporting that expectations are growing at Liverpool that the teenager could be something special.

‘High hopes’ for Eden at Liverpool

Eden grabbed the headlines in January when he became the youngest ever player to turn out for Liverpool U18s.

Not only did he play, but the youngster even scored, and he has since turned out a further nine times for the Simon Wiles’ side.

Having celebrated his 15th birthday in March, Eden is one of three players Pearce picks out when asked during a Q&A with The Athletic to name which talent from the academy will be the next to make the first-team breakthrough.

“I really like Josh Sonni-Lambie,” the journalist answers. “The teenage forward is blessed with pace and is a great finisher.

“Josh Abe is another to watch out for (if he stays this summer in the face of interest from other top clubs).

“There are also high hopes for midfielder Luca Eden who’s only 15 but has already played and scored for the under-18s.”

Caution should always be exercised when hyping up young players, and nobody should be getting ahead of themselves. But in Eden and Josh Abe, Liverpool appear to have two 15-year-olds who are among the most talented in the country.
