Liverpool are all set to sign a winger or two this summer as they prepare to move on from Mohamed Salah.
The Reds’ lack of quality and depth in attack was shown up at Old Trafford on Sunday, with much more needed if they are to go again next season.
Yan Diomande has been named as an early front-runner, with suggestions following that Bradley Barcola will be on Liverpool’s agenda as well.
How do you feel about Liverpool players taking ‘city trips’ on private jets days before big games?
And then going on to play abysmally…
With plenty of claims that more than one winger could join Arne Slot’s squad, it begs the question of whether both Diomande and Barcola could arrive. Thankfully, journalist David Lynch is on-hand to answer.
Liverpool unlikely to sign Barcola and Diomande
As they draw up their dream XIs for next season, Liverpool supporters have been excited by the links to Barcola and Diomande. Both would represent pacy, potentially top-class additions for the Reds.
But while supporters are starting to get carried away, Lynch has offered a reality check, telling Anfield Index that it would likely be one or the other for Liverpool this summer.
“To be honest it probably feels like it’s going to be one or the other in terms of main line wingers, and then maybe you get someone then who is of a less kind of high profile,” he said.

“Yan Diomande is very much someone who is liked and Liverpool have been looking at for a while, but of course PSG are in the mix and therefore there’s potentially chance to get Barcola.
“So, we know that Liverpool like both players, but I do get the sense that it’s probably going to be an either or on those.
“Not to say that they won’t sign another winger on top, I would hope and expect that they might,” Lynch added. “But I think in terms of those two, they’d both be big-money signings, front line signings and then maybe you just get someone of a slightly lesser profile in as well.”
| Appearances | Goals | Assists | |
| Bradley Barcola | 34 | 13 | 8 |
| Yan Diomande | 44 | 12 | 6 |
Who that lesser-profile winger would be is not yet clear, although links to Hoffenheim’s Bazoumana Toure are intriguing.
Though some may be disappointed not to get Barcola and Diomande, Liverpool have a good record of going for slightly under the radar players, and as they aim to get back to the top next season, it would be no bad thing to see them try that again.
