Sandro Tonali wants to stay in Premier League
Amid a potential Newcastle United exit being on the cards this summer, there has been talk that Sandro Tonali wanted a Serie A return after previously honing his craft with AC Milan.
That would obviously massively impact any chance Liverpool had of signing the player.
However, Fabrizio Romano gave an update on Tonali’s future this week and suggested he won’t be going back to Italy this year and wants to remain in the Premier League.
Romano said: “My understanding is that Sandro Tonali back to Serie A is something that could happen maybe in the next years, maybe in two, three, four, five years, I don’t know. But for this summer, summer 2026 is considered as something absolutely impossible.”
He continued: “My understanding is that Sandro Tonali would like to continue in Premier League. Sandro Tonali is happy at the highest level possible in terms of league, and Sandro Tonali would be happy to continue in Premier League.”
Liverpool appreciate Morgan Rogers
The Reds have been mooted with an interest in Morgan Rogers for a while now.
It is thought the Aston Villa man could command a fee somewhere in the region of £100m if he moves.
Now, an update on Liverpool’s interest has been shared, with it thought that Yan Diomande is more of a focus point.
Ben Jacobs explained: “Liverpool appreciate Rogers, but they’re not really active at this point, and I get the sense that finding a right-sided player to replace Mo Salah, and a profile like Yan Diomande that can play on both sides is a bit higher at the moment in Liverpool’s thinking.”
Why Trent Kone-Doherty left Liverpool
Elsewhere, Trent Kone-Doherty has opened up on his Liverpool exit in an interview this week.
Kone-Doherty joined Molde FK for a fee of around £650,000 in February, and has now admitted he wanted to leave to get senior football.
The youngster said: “I was ready to start playing senior football, but at that moment I wasn’t getting that at Liverpool. For me, it was about going somewhere where I could get some experience in senior football. I felt like it was the next step for me. Once you get a taste for the first team, it makes you eager for more.
“It wasn’t an easy decision. My whole life was in Liverpool. I had three years there, but I think it was best for my career. I had to make the decision in the end. You just have to be brave sometimes and take control of your career.”
