Alexander Isak sent a reminder of his world-class quality with a precise turn-and-finish goal last time out for Liverpool, and the Reds are reportedly confident that he will get back to his best.

It has been a torrid first year at Anfield for Isak, who has made only 20 appearances since his British record signing in September.

There have been plenty of mitigating factors behind the Swede’s slow start, though, and while others are being quick to write him off, insiders at Liverpool believe their No. 9 is set to ‘explode’ in 2026/27.

Liverpool expecting Isak to ‘explode’ as the main man

With Mohamed Salah departing and Hugo Ekitike ruled out potentially until the new year, Isak will have to step up next season.

Former Liverpool midfielder Jason McAteer has called on the £125m man to become a ‘superstar’ with the Reds, and he will certainly be given top billing after a difficult debut campaign.

And according to the Daily Mail, there’s a ‘feeling’ that being the main man may bring out the best in Isak.

It’s claimed that there’s a ‘feeling’ around Liverpool that the 26-year-old will finally show his best self when out of the shadow of both Salah and Ekitike.

The Reds are likely to add some more firepower to their attack during the summer window, but whatever happens, Isak will be instated as the focal point.

With a better summer behind him and a year of acclimatisation, surely it can only get better for the former Newcastle man? Those inside the club seem to believe so, and there should be hope that one of the Premier League’s most lethal marksmen of recent times will still go on to reach expectations at Liverpool.
