Liverpool and Crystal Palace faced off in a Premier League meeting at Anfield on Saturday, with Arne Slot’s side aiming to make it three wins in a row.

Chelsea dropped points in midweek, meaning the Reds had a great chance to firmly cement themselves in the Champions League places with a win.

Alisson did not start despite suggestions he could return, but fan attention during the fixture was focused away from the depleted goalkeeper department and towards Adam Wharton.

Alisson doesn’t make it… Any changes you’d have made?

Liverpool fans praise Adam Wharton vs Crystal Palace

Liverpool started the tie fairly well, but it was the Crystal Palace midfielder who was grabbing fans’ attention.

Wharton has been linked to Liverpool again this week, described as a ‘dream’ midfield signing with a value of around £80m.

And after starting brightly at Anfield, which included a positive run forward that saw him ease past Alexis Mac Allister, Reds supporters are keen to see the Englishman signed.

One stated: “Can’t believe there’s some of our fans who don’t want Wharton, look at him.”

A second wrote: “Seen enough already, bring me Wharton tomorrow.”

“Wharton is so good,” a third reacted, with another Liverpool fan commenting: “Wharton is already schooling MacAllister.”

Another exclaimed: “Adam Wharton, WHAT A PLAYER!!”

While a sixth claimed: “10 minutes in and Adam Wharton has been the best player on the pitch. This really is his Anfield audition.”

And a seventh Reds fan demanded: “We have to sign Wharton.”

Liverpool could lose three midfielders this summer, and it is a position that already hasn’t been the strongest this season.

Mac Allister has looked off his game for a while, and behind him, Curtis Jones and Wataru Endo haven’t impressed when playing in the middle.

Signing someone of Wharton’s quality would be ideal, but he will likely have a lot of interest this summer.
