Liverpool are one of a number of Premier League clubs lining up to rescue a player whose future at Man City looks dead in the water after just one season.
Mohamed Salah and Andy Robertson are the only confirmed high-profile departures, but more players are likely to be leaving Anfield this summer. Curtis Jones is considering a Liverpool exit as well, and you can be sure Liverpool will need to make multiple signings in the window.
Another player mooted to leave Liverpool is Alisson Becker. He has been attracting interest from Serie A and could be the next legend to hang up his Liverpool shirt. If that happens, James Trafford becomes a very intriguing target.
What should Liverpool do with Alisson Becker? 🐐
Liverpool face tense Premier League competition to sign James Trafford
According to a report from GOAL, Liverpool are among the clubs showing interest in the Man City goalkeeper as the 22-year-old looks increasingly determined to leave in search of regular first-team football.
This transfer opportunity comes at a time when uncertainty still hangs over Alisson’s long-term future and with Giorgi Mamardashvili already lined up as part of the club’s succession planning.
Trafford has impressed in limited opportunities for City this season, most notably in cup competitions, and the report says Liverpool are one of the Premier League sides to have made their interest known.

Chelsea, Tottenham, Aston Villa and Newcastle are also mentioned, while Trafford’s desire to become a genuine No.1 appears to be driving the situation after losing his place at the Etihad to Gianluigi Donnarumma.
For Liverpool, it raises an obvious question over whether they see Trafford as that. His reason for wanting out of City is to step out of Donnarumma’s shadow. He will be looking exclusively for a situation in which there is at least a chance of being the starting keeper.
Could Liverpool convince him to compete with Mamardashvili for that role? Who wins that battle?
Are Liverpool making the right call by sticking with Arne Slot? 🤔
Trafford would be an ideal Alisson replacement if it’s called for, but the player’s personal ambitions suggest that — Liverpool’s admiration aside — he wouldn’t want to risk wasting another season on the bench. He’s too good for that.
