Liverpool look likely to miss out on Bournemouth centre-back Marcos Senesi, according to journalist David Ornstein.
The Reds had been named as favourites to sign Senesi on Thursday, as they look to bolster their defence amid uncertainty over Ibrahima Konate.
Like Konate, Senesi is set to be a free agent this summer, and though a move to Liverpool had looked like a possibility, Ornstein confirmed on Friday that the Argentine has entered into ‘advanced talks’ with Tottenham.

Although he would not make the most eye-catching replacement for Konate, capturing Senesi would be a cost-effective way for Liverpool to retain four good options at centre-back while nurturing the talents of Giovanni Leoni and Jeremy Jacquet.
According to Ornstein, though, Tottenham are now in pole position to land the 28-year-old, who Danny Murphy had called ‘phenomenal‘ following an impressive display against Arsenal last weekend.
“Tottenham Hotspur in advanced talks to sign Marcos Senesi as free agent this summer subject to retaining PL status,” the journalist posted to X.
“Nothing finalised so still open + interest in 28yo AFCB centre-back from elsewhere but THFC leading contender at present.”
With Tottenham also making a move to sign Andy Robertson on a free transfer, they are already working hard to ensure they do not face a relegation battle for a third successive season.
Clearly, any moves will be dependent on Spurs staying in the division, so if they continue to slide, perhaps there is still an opening for Liverpool where Senesi is concerned.
For now, however, the Bournemouth man looks most likely to be playing at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium next season.
