Liverpool supporters have been debating the legacy Mohamed Salah will leave at Anfield when he departs the club at the end of the season.
Salah has put himself firmly in the conversation to be the greatest player in 134 years of Liverpool history, alongside the likes of Steven Gerrard and Sir Kenny Dalglish.
After Salah announced his intention to leave the Reds on Tuesday, Rousing The Kop asked readers to vote on its new TalkingPoints platform for whether the Egyptian was in fact the number one. It was tight, but according to RTK voters, Salah is indeed Liverpool‘s best ever player.
Which players should Liverpool target to replace Mohamed Salah this summer? 🤔
Supporters vote Salah as Liverpool’s greatest ever player
Having scored the third most goals of any Liverpool player in history, and won two Premier League titles, a Champions League and an FA Cup, Salah is rightfully right up there alongside Gerrard and Dalglish.
And while some older supporters may well dispute the results, 53% of RTK readers voted that the current No. 11 sits above either of them as the best to ever do it.
“Yes, look at his record ever since he came to Liverpool he with Jurgen Klopp gave us a Premier League after 20 years or the drought and then last season single-handedly gave us another one,” one supporter argued.

“I am an older supporter but believe Salah is on par if not slightly above players like Dalglish, Rush and Fowler,” another said. “He just set Liverpool on fire you could always rely on him he is now a Big Liverpool Legend. Born in Egypt but made in Liverpool.”
Although Salah just edged the vote, though, there were others who were quick to point out that he is competing against some unbelievable players, and there is no shame if he does not quite take the crown.
“He has been an amazing player for us, but still nowhere near the greatest ever,” one fan claimed, with another agreeing, saying: “Not the best but he’s up there. What a player!”
Is Mohamed Salah Liverpool’s greatest EVER player?
Nine years of sheer brilliance are coming to an end…
“No, not for me,” someone else chimed in. “Best in the last 10 yrs, definitely. Gerrard is the greatest in Premier League era. Before that you have the likes of Dalglish, Rush, Barnes & further back Callaghan & Hunt.”
One fan arguably summed the debate up nicely, suggesting that while Salah may not be the greatest Liverpool player of all time, he is certainly a measuring stick for the Reds’ recent history.
“Ever? Maybe not but in recent times I’d say so!” they said.
As often seems to be the way in football, Salah’s case may strengthen the more time that passes from his Liverpool career. In the meantime, he can still hope to tip the scales by adding another Champions League or FA Cup trophy to his haul. Do that, and the debate may be over.
