Liverpool are looking back to something approaching their best after an excellent week saw wins recorded over Sunderland and Brighton.

The Reds seem to have righted their wobbling season, with supporters now dreaming of FA Cup and Champions League glory.

The manner of Saturday’s win against the Seagulls was especially impressive, with goals from Curtis Jones, Dominik Szoboszlai and Mohamed Salah sealing a 3-0 win.

With further good performances from the likes of Milos Kerkez and Alexis Mac Allister, picking a man of the match from the game proved to be difficult.

Liverpool fans still gave it their best shot, though, voting in their hundreds on Rousing The Kop‘s TalkingPoints platform to try and reach a consensus.

Dominik Szoboszlai edges tight MOTM poll

RTK put forward four names in a MOTM poll after Saturday’s game: Szoboszlai, Jones, Salah and Kerkez.

At the time of writing, almost 700 supporters have made their choice, with Szoboszlai edging into the lead with 279 votes, 41% of the electorate.

The midfielder’s Hungarian teammate Kerkez was perhaps unlucky to be overlooked, although 217 fans voted him into second place with 32% of the overall choice. Mohamed Salah came in third with 102 picks, with Jones bringing up the rear on 71.

“Milos Kerkez due to his phenomenal work rate and penetration,” said one supporter, with another agreeing that “Kerkez was excellent.”

One supporter claimed that the left-back has now “finally settled with the team and showing his potential,” while someone else insisted he was man of the match ‘by a mile.’

Nevertheless, this was not reflected in the votes, with Szoboszlai once again coming out on top.

Milos Kerkez deserves credit for turnaround

Although it was Szoboszlai who took the honours on TalkingPoints, fans’ comments show that Kerkez perhaps deserved to be recognised.

The 22-year-old whipped in a brilliant assist to get the ball rolling with Jones’ goal, and he was a constant threat throughout the game.

Kerkez has effectively gone from being seen as a liability by supporters to being one of their most consistent performers.

The eye-catching nature of Szoboszlai’s stunning finish probably took this award away from him here, but if he keeps playing as he is, it will not be the last time Kerkez is in the running to pip his countryman to the post.
