Konate was outstanding against Sunderland on Wednesday. He has really turned a corner with his performances in 2026.

Now though, the general feeling is (almost) unanimous.

The decision lies with both club and player.
Konate has yet to commit to Liverpool, but talks are ongoing.
According to TEAMtalk, a deadline of Easter has been set for this to be resolved. It’s unclear as to where Konate’s head is at.
As for the fans, they took to Rousing The Kop’s TalkingPoints platform to make their stance crystal clear.
One fan says: We need to lock this fella down, nearly everyone started the season off it, just as a centre-back it’s way more noticeable. He can still do lots for this team.”
This fan saw what we all did against Sunderland: “Was so good tonight, starting to look back to his best.”
And again: “IBOOUUU. Looks so much more focused, was not letting Brobbey get the better of him there.”

The feeling in the fanbase is becoming clear, with this fan saying: “Konate is doing good and consistent in his performances. Should stay with Liverpool and sign extension of contract.”
This user is looking at history: “Yes again like Trent the board don’t want to pay Simple. Pay up and build.”
Not everyone is singing his praises, though.
Some recognise that he should be renewed, but it’s not all love: “If we’d signed Guehi I wouldn’t have cared. Now it feels like we need to keep him. Have a look at Trent and realise the grass isn’t always greener…”
Or this fan: “In fairness he has had a pretty awful season. Had he been playing like this all year it surely would have forced Liverpool’s hand with his contract.”
There were those who are yet to be won over. Like this fan, who says: “It’s strange that now Konate is in the shop window he is back to his best, he’s a snake who is only furthering his own agenda.
“HE IS GOING TO Real Madrid. He’s doing a Traitor Trent because if he lets the cat out of the bag the fans will rip him every chance they get. Stick him with the kids so his World Cup can be damaged…”
Ending on a rather emphatic no, but the general consensus is… do everything to keep him.
