Jacquet featured against Marseille on Tuesday evening as Rennes lost 3-0 in the French Cup.

It was not the best display from the centre-back, but that’s unlikely to worry Liverpool based on the data they have collected on the stopper.

While Liverpool are clearly high on the young defender, one French pundit seemed to suggest that the Reds paid too much for Jacquet.

As mentioned, he is arriving later this year for a fee of £55m plus £5m in add-ons.

That will make Jacquet the second-most expensive centre-back in Liverpool’s history behind Virgil van Dijk.

However, several sources suggest that the Rennes ace’s transfer value is lower.

CIES Football Observatory give Jacquet a ‘fair price’ of €25-29m, while Transmarket give the player a market value of €20m.

In reality, the value of the player is irrelevant as long as he can perform on the pitch when he joins.

And perhaps most importantly, Liverpool can still ‘go big’ in the summer transfer window despite their recent outlay on Jacquet and other big names last year.
