Mohamed Salah made his first Premier League start since the 3-0 defeat to Nottingham Forest when Liverpool faced Bournemouth.
The Egyptian has spent the last month away at the AFCON, where he was bested by Sadio Mane’s Senegal in the semi-finals.
Salah returned against Marseille, being put straight back into the eleven after previously hitting out at the club amid a lack of minutes.
Who was Liverpool’s worst player as they fell to a pathetic loss against Bournemouth?
In the league, we had not seen the 33-year-old selected from the off since the back end of November.
However, Salah started on the right against Bournemouth, but fans are not exactly pleased with what they saw with their star man.
Mohamed Salah made Liverpool fans ‘sad’ vs Bournemouth
It was a disappointing game from Liverpool overall for much of the match, but the winger in particular struggled to have an impact.
Now, a number of supporters have been commenting on the ‘sad’ decline of Salah.
One fan wrote: “Watching Salah’s downfall is sad.”
“Unfortunately, Salah is finished. Sad,” echoed a second supporter.
Another added: “Salah’s been so poor in this game man it is sad to see.”
A fourth suggested: “Sad to see but I think I get why Salah gets benched now. He has been a shadow of himself for the most part of this season.”
“It’s so so sad to watch Salah like this, you know,” wrote a fifth, with a sixth adding: “Time and tide wait for no man. Unfortunately, Mo Salah is done. Has been undercooked all season, same at Afcon and totally off the pace again. Sad sight.”
While another wrote: “Salah needs to come off. It’s a sad decline but I can’t watch him go out like this. He’s so bad and has been all season.”

Will Mohamed Salah still be a Liverpool player next season?
After his outburst last month, Salah’s future was called into question.
Meanwhile, interest from the Saudi Pro League regarding a possible transfer in 2026 returned this week.
However, it was also shared that Salah has given no indication that he wants to stop playing at the highest level and is happy in Liverpool.
Given most European clubs probably can’t afford to pay his £400,000-a-week wages, it may be a case that even if he’d like to move on later this year, the right team may not be available.
