The moment they tend to reference when doing so is one which came notoriously at Anfield in April 2014. With Liverpool pushing for the title, a win against Chelsea would have taken them closer to glory. Sadly, they could not break Jose Mourinho’s side down. An infamous slip from Gerrard allowed Demba Ba in to score a killer goal before half-time and a legendary Premier League moment was born.
For all the great things Gerrard did during his career, it is for this that rival fans remember him the most. Ba will forever be associated with one of Liverpool’s greatest ever players. But despite those uncomfortable memories, the former Senegal striker was seen at the Reds’ training ground on Friday.
Demba Ba accompanies new signing Mor Talla Ndiaye
Since retiring from playing, Ba has embarked on an interesting career as a football club owner.
Now 40, he set up a franchise club in America, which he is now chairman of, and also owns Amitie FC, a club in his native Senegal.

On Friday, Liverpool completed the £1m signing of centre-back talent Mor Talla Ndiaye from Amitie.
This was clearly a big deal for Ba and his club, and as reported by journalist Jack Lusby on X, the former Chelsea striker accompanied Ndiaye to Liverpool.
Ba could be seen displaying a big grin as he proudly posed with Ndiaye and a Liverpool shirt bearing the new signing’s name.

It speaks to just how traumatic the whole Gerrard slip incident is for Liverpool supporters, that many had a visceral reaction to seeing Ba at the training ground.
However, the 40-year-old obviously has a very different meaning to Ndiaye, who thanked him after completing a dream move to Anfield.
“I am very happy to join Liverpool for my first experience abroad,” the 18-year-old posted on Instagram.
“It is a dream club, with a magnificent history and a rich record of success, shaped by great players, including Sadio Mane, who made me dream in this shirt.
“I would like to thank my former coaches, as well as the staff at Bou Sports and Amitie FC, my close circle, Bouna Diouf Abdou Aziz, along with my president Demba Ba and my agents for their support. I cannot forget anyone. The work is only just beginning for all of us. Together, we will succeed by the grace of God!”
