Liverpool have had right-back issues for much of 2025/26, with Conor Bradley the latest casualty.
The Reds secured a 0-0 draw with Arsenal on Thursday evening, but it came at a cost.
Conor Bradley went off injured late in the clash, and Gabriel Martinelli has drawn the ire of supporters and pundits for his reaction.
Thoughts on Gabriel Martinelli pushing the injured Conor Bradley? 😡
Martinelli did not actually injure Bradley, though, with the player, rather concerningly, going down without any contact.
His absence means Liverpool have just one fit senior right-back available at the moment in Jeremie Frimpong.
How will Liverpool replace Conor Bradley
Joe Gomez can, and has, filled in on the right of the back four. But he is the only centre-back cover for Virgil van Dijk and Ibrahima Konate at present.
The Englishman has also had injury issues of his own over the last several years, prompting Rousing The Kop’s readers to discuss potential replacements for Bradley on the TalkingPoints platform.
Opinion is split over how Liverpool will deal with the situation. Some have suggested Calvin Ramsay be promoted, others have mooted position changes for midfielders, and there has been talk about a replacement being brought in via the transfer market.
One fan wrote: “We have Calvin Ramsay a natural right-back, give him a chance. Maybe sign a young right back but when everyone is fit again, that signing may well be redundant.”
Another responded: “Ramsay is really the only option. We can’t rely too heavily on Gomez as he’s the only other choice at CB. We really have royally messed up with our defensive planning.”

A third stated: “The lad at Feyenoord, Givairo Read, looks like a real prospect. If Bradley is out with an ACL then we simply have to do something, especially as Gomez could leave in the summer.”
“Can’t see them rushing a signing for the short-term, Szobo and Jones also can provide cover,” claimed a fourth.
Another Liverpool fan commented: “No brainer we have to sign Guehi in Jan window if we wait we will lose out.”
A sixth added: “Don’t trust Gomez to stay fit and Frimpong can’t play every week, let’s actually sign someone and not have to rely on Dom to become a full-back again.”
“That would then free up Gomez to play at RB if needed as well. Sadly, I can’t see it happening,” said another in response to signing Marc Guehi.
How would YOU react if Marc Guehi joins Man City instead of Liverpool in January?
Marc Guehi plan is off the table
While Guehi signing and Gomez then moving into a permanent right-back role would be ideal, it looks unlikely to happen.
David Ornstein said earlier this week that Liverpool want the Crystal Palace defender in the summer.
Now, amid links to Manchester City, another journalist has named the Reds as Guehi’s preferred destination, but again, mooted a move for later in the year.
Sam Lee said: “On Monday night I was told by somebody who knows what’s going on at City, but also I think probably Palace as well, he said he thinks Guehi wants to stay until the summer and he prefers Liverpool in any case.
“Somebody else messaged me on Twitter and I know he’s very good on other club stuff, he was like ‘yeah, he wants to stay until the summer and he prefers Liverpool and Arsenal’.
