Liverpool fans are not very happy with how the transfer window has gone so far.
The Reds need reinforcements in multiple areas of the pitch, but it is at centre-back where they are very short of options.
They have just Virgil van Dijk and Ibrahima Konate as options, Joe Gomez too if he can stay fit, meaning that any more injuries and they will be in serious trouble.
Who are you picking as Virgil van Dijk’s centre-back partner next season?
Many names have been linked with a move, giving Liverpool fans a little bit of hope, but one thing is becoming apparent after the latest round of rumours, and Reds supporters are not happy.
Liverpool fans are unhappy that they keep being linked with players for the future after Talla Ndiaye links
The most recent player to be tipped for an Anfield switch is 17-year-old Talla Ndiaye, with a deal already close to completion.
He is an up-and-coming talent who would be Liverpool’s fifth choice centre-back, showing how they are adding depth.
However, he is very much ‘one for the future’, just like many of the other players they are linked with, and fans cannot understand why they are not improving their team for the here and now.
One supporter wrote after the news about Ndiaye: “We need a starter not someone for the reserves,” while another said: “Nice to see us sign some young centre-backs, but could really do with one for right now.”
Another said sarcastically: “Get in, what we’ve all been hoping for a left sided centre-back for the u21’s…” with a fourth adding: “Sign a first team player!”
How would YOU react if Marc Guehi joins Man City instead of Liverpool in January?
Another compared this type of signing to ones they have made in the past, saying: “We got Sepp van den Berg, Ki-Jana Hoever, Ramsay etc in the past and look what happened with them nowadays.”
A sixth said: “Brother can we sign a senior centre-back please, they are taking the mick!” with another saying: “What’s the point?”
A final fan summed up what every Liverpool supporter is thinking, writing: “We need Guehi ASAP.”
Liverpool are unlikely to make any notable signings in January
If Liverpool are going to get someone who is good enough to go straight into the team, they would usually have done it by now as they love to get their business done early.
In January, the majority of their signings are wrapped up within the first few days too, as shown when they signed van Dijk and Cody Gakpo.
This basically rules out a move for Marc Guehi, unless Man City’s interest has forced their hand, with it set to be a quiet window at Liverpool despite the need for additions.
