Alexander Isak cannot catch a break at Liverpool right now after suffering, what looks to be, a serious injury.
Isak has had a terrible start to the season since joining from Newcastle for £125m, but things looked to be picking up after he scored against Tottenham with a clinical finish.
Any optimism was short lived, though, as he picked up an injury mid-shot after being wiped out by Micky van de Ven, with the Swede suffering a suspected leg fracture.

Liverpool’s attacking options heading into the Christmas period:
- Hugo Ekitike
- Federico Chiesa
- Florian Wirtz
- Rio Ngumoha
Although the exact injury and timescale of his recovery is not yet confirmed, Liverpool fans can expect him out for a little while, with this having big implications.
One of these will be regarding the future of Mohamed Salah, with the Reds perhaps needing to make a very tough decision.
Liverpool cannot afford to let Mohamed Salah leave now
Not that they could anyway, but Liverpool really cannot afford to lose Salah now that Isak could be out for a decent amount of time.
Although they do not play in the same position, both play a vital role in scoring goals, or at least they should even if both have struggled so far this season.
So taking Salah out of the team while Isak is out, that leaves a heavy reliance on Hugo Ekitike, something that will make them too predictable.
The Reds were also already fairly short of attacking options as it was too, so losing the Swede for a prolonged period of time is not helpful at all.
This means they need every player they have got to step up and make a real difference, something Salah has done on so many occasions before and can so easily do again once he is back from AFCON.
Liverpool still need an attacker in January
Whether it is a big name or just someone who can fill a gap in the short term, Liverpool needed an attacker before, but now need one more than ever.
Someone versatile would be the perfect profile so that they can cover both wings and perhaps even Ekitike too.
With Antoine Semenyo looking unlikely, which forward should Liverpool sign instead?

Antoine Semenyo would be the ideal candidate, but it looks like Liverpool might miss out on him as things stand according to David Ornstein.
Liverpool could pivot to Semenyo alternatives, though, and fans will be desperate for this to happen, as if not, they could be in real trouble.
