Liverpool are in the process of reshaping their attacking options as they look ahead to a post-Mohamed Salah world.
The Reds did some big business during the summer transfer window, and have begun to shift to a system designed to get the most out of centre-forwards Alexander Isak and Hugo Ekitike.
If they adopt this formation longer term, Liverpool may need another natural striker who can rotate in for Isak or Ekitike when needs be.

Gakpo easily betters him in key metrics!
Without a clear option within the existing Liverpool squad, Arne Slot may need to look towards the transfer market in order to secure the right player.
Clearly, they would not be after another big-money signing like an Isak or an Ekitike to fill this spot. But according to journalist Christian Falk, Liverpool may have found the right man in the £20-25m mark.
Liverpool ready to battle Bayern Munich for Franculino Dju
It can be hard to procure a player who knows he is going to be a back-up at Liverpool.
Still, it is not impossible to have your cake and eat it, and according to Falk, the Reds have identified Midtjylland’s Franculino Dju as a player who could be the answer.

After declaring Bayern Munich’s interest in the 21-year-old – who could be attainable for £22-26m – Falk told Bayern Insider that the runaway Bundesliga leaders may face competition from Liverpool.
“The interesting thing for England is that FC Bayern aren’t the only club at the table!” he said.
“Premier League champions Liverpool are also very interested in him. So perhaps we might get an exciting poker game between Arne Slot’s side and Bayern Munich.”

Franculino Dju is on fire at Midtjylland
If Liverpool are looking for another central striker to keep Isak and Ekitike company, many supporters would perhaps like the Reds to keep faith in Jayden Danns.
However, with Danns facing plenty of injury problems, they may have to look elsewhere.
In that scenario, Dju could be the perfect player. Only 21, the Guinea-Bissau international has become a goal-scoring machine at Midtjylland.
Dju has 21 goals in all competitions for the Danish side before Christmas. That follows on from respectable tallies of 17 in 2023/24 and 16 in 2024/25. After scoring 16 goals in 17 Danish Superligaen matches, he is romping his way to the Golden Boot.
Not turning 22 until the summer, Dju is clearly a player who all top clubs will be keeping track of. It may be a hard sell to convince him his future lies playing second fiddle at Anfield, but if there’s a chance there, Liverpool have to try.
