Hugo Ekitike has certainly made a real impression since arriving in the summer.
The Reds had a hugely successful transfer window on paper, but not many of the new signings have managed to hit the ground running.
Ekitike, however, has been one of the signings of the summer across the whole division, with the Frenchman scoring some very important goals.
Gut feeling, has Mohamed Salah played his last game for Liverpool? If yes, how do you feel about it?
It is his link-up play too that has earned him all the plaudits, with some comparing him to ex-Liverpool forward Roberto Firmino, although Liverpool fans think he is much more like another iconic number nine.
Liverpool fans compare Hugo Ekitike to Fernando Torres
The fact Ekitike is already being compared to other Liverpool strikers is certainly a good sign of just how key he might become, especially given the names he is being likened to.
Although he might have the selflessness of Firmino, fans seem to believe that he is more like Fernando Torres, and it is hard to argue otherwise.
One fan on X wrote: “He reminds me of Torres. Firmino’s creativity in the final third was top. Ekitike at the moment needs to develop that more.”
Another added: “The way he moves and runs, remind me of El Niño to be honest,” with a third saying: “He’s not the same player as Firmino. Closer to Torres. When he pushed it through Dunks legs and ran it was like a carbon copy. Power and pace.”
Another said: “He moves like prime Torres but not quite at that level just yet,” with a fifth saying: “He reminds me of Henry and Torres combined. (Obvs nowhere near the standard yet) he has the running like Henry but the rawness of Torres.”
Others think that he simply cannot be like Bobby due to how unselfish the Brazilian was, with one supporter saying: “Not at all.. firmino always put team before himself.”
Another fan wrote: “He has a similar gait and style to Torres and finishing but Torres came to Liverpool more rounded and ready,” with a final supporter saying: “Not the skill , not the vision , not the imagination, yet Ekitike is brilliant.”
How many Premier League points will Liverpool collect while Mohamed Salah is at AFCON?
Hugo Ekitike has big expectations if compared to Fernando Torres
Torres is one of the best strikers Liverpool have had in Premier League history, and he too took no time at all to get up and running.
The Spaniard scored 33 goals in 46 games during his first season at Anfield, showing how high the bar is set for Ekitike.
The Frenchman currently has 10 goals in 23 appearances, meaning he has a very long way to go if he is to match that incredible tally.
Either way, he has made a really good first impression, proven by the fact he is keeping Alexander Isak out of the team, with the Reds potentially having a big star on their hands.
