Mohamed Salah has been linked with a number of clubs after his interview calling out Liverpool last weekend.

Recent reports have revealed that the Saudi Pro League remains interested in Salah after they failed to land the 33-year-old over the summer.

He signed fresh terms with Liverpool at the time, keeping him at Anfield until 2027.

However, after seeing his future cast into doubt, one journalist has linked Al Qadsiah and Neon Sports Club with the Egyptian star.

They are not thought to be the only teams with one eye on Salah, while an update on FC Barcelona’s interest has now emerged.

FC Barcelona can’t afford to sign Mohamed Salah right now

Barcelona have a long-standing interest in the Liverpool icon.

When he was negotiating a new deal in 2022, the Spanish giants were circling ahead of a free transfer in 2023.

A move never came to pass, and as per The Athletic, Barcelona are not expected to be in the race for Salah now should he decide to leave Liverpool.

They say that the La Liga powerhouse have financial problems that make any potential move in 2026 almost impossible to get over the line.

The staggering sum Liverpool would save on wages if Mohamed Salah leaves. How would you reinvest it?💰

“As well as Salah’s wages, which reportedly are around £400,000 per week, you’re also looking at a saving in National Insurance contributions. That’s not a trivial sum. National Insurance is set at 15 per cent as of April 2025, so if £400,000 is Salah’s basic weekly wage, Liverpool are also paying another £60,000 on top of that.

“Over the course of 18 months, that’s another £4.7m. The numbers aren’t an exact science, because some of Salah’s wages will be paid as image rights, which are taxed recently.”

The biggest deals in Saudi Pro League history

As a result, it looks like the Saudi Pro League is the most likely destination for Salah should he move next year.

He is 33 years of age, but they have shown in the past that they are more than happy to spend big on players, even those who might be past their prime.

Cristiano Ronaldo’s transfer was obviously big, while the likes of Neymar and former Red Fabinho have moved for decent money.

Darwin Nunez (£46.6m) is the most recent Liverpool man to leave for the Middle East, and it would not be surprising to see Salah fetch a higher sum.
