Antoine Semenyo has emerged as a clear target for Liverpool ahead of the January transfer window.

The Bournemouth wide man started the season on fire, claiming six goals and three assists within the opening weeks of the Premier League campaign.

And although Semenyo has failed to either score or assist in each of his past seven matches, there remains a feeling that the Ghanaian is due a big move. Liverpool are interested.

The Reds last five Premier League results have Arne Slot under pressure. Should a loss at Leeds see him sacked?

A release clause in his contract will become active in January, allowing Semenyo to leave the Vitality Stadium for £65m.

As interested clubs jostle to get to the front of the queue, Semenyo’s manager at Ghana, Otto Addo, has claimed that the 25-year-old is virtually certain to go.

Antoine Semenyo almost guaranteed to leave Bournemouth

Although there arguably better ways for Liverpool to spend £65m than buying Semenyo, he is clearly seen as a good market opportunity by the Reds.

He is developing well at Bournemouth and shining for Ghana, and according to Addo, Semenyo is ready for ‘the next step.’

“He has done very well at Bournemouth, but with all the respect for Bournemouth and what they’re doing, surely it is natural for him to take the next step,” the manager told The Athletic.

“Whether its in the winter or summer, it is a different question but it won’t make a difference for us. I’m looking forward to him showing more of what he can to the world.”

Semenyo is set to face England at next summer’s World Cup after the Black Stars were drawn alongside the Three Lions in Friday’s draw.

Addo’s words may offer hope to those Liverpool fans keen to see Semenyo at Anfield that he could enter the tournament as a Red.

All going a little quiet on the Semenyo front

Although it is clear that Semenyo is lining himself up for a move in 2026, things have started to go a little quiet in regards to Liverpool.

The strongest most recent links have suggested Manchester City as a more likely destination for the former Bristol City forward.

This will disappoint some supporters who have seemingly convinced themselves that Semenyo is the answer to Liverpool’s prayers.

The Reds do sometimes move quietly in the market, so hope for those fans should not be extinguished just yet.

But we’ve a feeling that when Semenyo does line up at the World Cup next year, he will not be a Liverpool player.
