Liverpool look likely to target a winger in 2026 as they aim to complete their attacking rebuild.

The Reds have spent a huge amount of money on reshaping their forward line, with Alexander Isak, Florian Wirtz and Hugo Ekitike arriving for a sum of nearly £300m.

However, it has become clear this season that Liverpool are still very much lacking in a pacy, goal-getting winger.

Fill in the blank: Liverpool simply have to sign — in January 🙏

Saudi clubs are beginning to circle Mohamed Salah once again, meaning the Reds will be in even more desperate need of adding a threat from wide.

Michael Olise has been named as a potential target, and according to German outlet BILD, the Frenchman joins three other star names on Liverpool’s 2026 shortlist.

Liverpool put Michael Olise back on their list

Olise has been in terrific form ever since joining Bayern Munich from Crystal Palace in 2024.

Left-footed, pacy, direct and creative, the 23-year-old would be a signing who just about every Liverpool supporter could get behind.

BILD report that Olise had actually been taken off Liverpool’s shortlist, with the Reds unsure that they could realistically sign him.

But as journalist Tobias Altschaffl explains, the France international has now been returned for consideration, alongside three other exciting talents.

“Michael Olise is on this backup list,” says Altschaffl. “Along with three other names: Kenan Yildiz from Juventus Turin, Rodrygo from Real Madrid and Iliman Ndiaye from Everton.”

However, the journalist claims that Liverpool’s chances of signing Olise remain remote, despite the interest returning.

“Bayern are very confident that Olise will not leave,” he says. “Why would they let him go? But it’s understandable that Liverpool are interested in him.”

Is Kenan Yildiz a realistic target?

While it seems highly unlikely that Liverpool will be able to secure Olise any time soon, the presence of Yildiz on this shortlist will alert fans as well.

Yildiz has been heavily linked with Liverpool as he attempts to renegotiate his contract with Juventus.

The 20-year-old has been one of Europe’s outstanding young forwards of the past 18 months and his arrival would be an exciting one at Anfield.

Back in November, journalist Fabrizio Romano confirmed that Premier League clubs are starting to move for Yildiz, meaning the Turkey international could be one to watch.

As for Rodrygo, it seems Liverpool would have taken their chance to sign him last summer if they’d really wanted, while Everton are unlikely to sell Ndiaye to the Reds.
