Crystal Palace supporters will be braced for a raft of new stories regarding Liverpool and Marc Guehi as the January window edges closer.
The Reds came as close as possible to signing Guehi without getting a deal over the line after the Eagles pulled the plug on transfer deadline day.
Since then, Liverpool have been borderline catastrophic defensively, conceding 17 goals in their first 11 Premier League matches and dropping to eighth in the table.
Guehi will not sign a new Crystal Palace contract, and as a result could potentially be available on a cut-price deal in the New Year.
After Liverpool missed their chance for a free run at the 25-year-old, they are likely to face major competition to get him in 2026.
However, according to Sky Sports, there is a feeling amongst Palace insiders that the Reds may get one last chance to sign their captain before some European giants pile in.

Liverpool may have unopposed chance at Marc Guehi in January
Since Guehi slipped through Liverpool’s fingers in September it has become clear just what a good signing he would have been.
While Arne Slot’s defensive woes have been well publicised, so too has the terrific form of Guehi, who is set to start for England at next summer’s World Cup.

Who will win Liverpool vs Nottingham Forest on Saturday?
As reported by Sky Sports News on Wednesday evening, Palace feel there is still a chance that the centre-back heads into that tournament as a Liverpool player, or that the Reds will try and make that a reality at the very least.
“Crystal Palace believe that Liverpool are the only club that may attempt to buy Marc Guehi in January, despite interest from Bayern Munich, Barcelona and Real Madrid,” says presenter Mike Wedderburn.
“The feeling around Selhurst Park is that those major European sides are only willing to sign him as a free agent in the summer.
“Guehi is on track to return from injury and face Wolves this weekend after he missed the last two England games.”
What are Liverpool’s chances of success?
Obviously, it is one thing for Liverpool to try and get Guehi to the club in the New Year, it is another for Palace to agree to let him leave.
The Eagles are having another decent season under Oliver Glasner, and perhaps the outcome will depend on how they are faring when January rolls around.
Glasner refused to let Guehi leave on the grounds that Palace did not have a suitable replacement coming in over the summer. That is likely to play a part once again.
So, Liverpool fans should really be keeping an eye on any rumours regarding a new centre-back heading to Selhurst Park after Christmas. Unless that happens, the chances of success for the Reds regarding Guehi feel fairly low.
Still, if Liverpool put just enough money on the table, maybe they can convince the South Londoners that it’s better than losing one of the Premier League’s best defenders for nothing at the end of the campaign.
