Darren Bent believes that Liverpool could be about to sign the next Gareth Bale

Liverpool might just be about to make a signing that could change their season.

Things simply are not working for the Reds so far this season, which is why they are already linked with new signings for January.

They spent big in the summer but it seems to have come to no avail, at least not yet that is, and the plan looks like it might be to do the same again when the transfer window opens.

Whether it works is another thing, especially as too much change has clearly been an issue so far, although for the right player, it will be worthwhile.

Darren Bent also thinks that their main target would be a great addition, even going as far as comparing him to Gareth Bale.

Darren Bent compares Antoine Semenyo to Gareth Bale

There are a number of top quality wingers in the Premier League right now, with Bournemouth’s Antoine Semenyo one of the most in-form and, subsequently, in demand.

However, there have been way better than him in the past, with one of these being Bale during his time with Tottenham.

He may not have been there too long and spent most of his career at Real Madrid, but he is still one of the Premier League’s best, with the Welshman unplayable on his day.

Bent, though, thinks the same about Semenyo, believing that the Ghanaian has similar traits to the five-time Champions League winner.

“This season it’s like it’s all coming together for him. He has exploded out of the traps,” Bent said on talkSPORT.

“He just looks comfortable in himself and every game you see him do something and go ‘oh my goodness’. He is one of those rare players who is unstoppable. Bale was like that. I’m talking about their attributes.

“When Bale started to move, you couldn’t stop him, Semenyo is the same. Once he gets going and he’s going past someone, he’s gliding, and what is good about him is that he is naturally left-footed, but he can go both ways.

“I think he’s got the full package.”

Liverpool need the unpredictability of Antoine Semenyo

One thing Liverpool have lost this season is unpredictability, especially in attack, with everything far too obvious.

Unlike Luis Diaz, Cody Gakpo always wants to cut inside to curl a shot towards goal, with Mohamed Salah doing the same on the other side, which is becoming too easy for defenders to read.

As for Semenyo, he will take it either side of the defender and is equally adept at crossing as he is finishing, something that could reignite a struggling forward line.

He has a release clause of £65m which, in all honesty, is cheaper than many would have thought, and if he does turn into the next Bale, then it will be an absolute bargain.
