Liverpool could be about to make one of the most exciting transfers of the season

Liverpool may have already spent a small fortune on new signings, but it’s clear that more players need to be brought in.

The Reds have had a tough time of it over the last month or so, with only two or three of their recent performances worth writing home about.

It’s certainly been a strange season for Arne Slot and his men, and although they’ve already gone through a summer of change, talk of potential moves in the January and summer transfer windows is already starting to emerge.

Liverpool clearly need some more fresh talent added to their ranks to try and turn their fortunes around, with their defence one of their main problem areas.

However, it’s a new midfielder who’s likely to have piqued the interest of fans after the latest rumours to arise from Anfield.

Liverpool are keeping a ‘close eye’ on Paris Saint-Germain’s Vitinha

Ryan Gravenberch is undoubtedly one of the world’s best defensive midfielders.

However, as per a new report from Caught Offside, this hasn’t stopped the Reds from ‘keeping a close eye’ on Paris Saint-Germain’s Vitinha.

The midfielder was one of Luis Enrique’s key men last term, with his range of passing coupled with his defensive contributions making him almost impossible to get past.

The former Porto ace is also seen as one of the best midfielders in the world, with Caught Offside stating that a bid worth around €130 million (£114 million) could be enough to seal a deal.

Arsenal and Juventus are also being linked with the Portugal international, with a Premier League move offering him a ‘new challenge’ which could play in the Reds’ favour.

Comparing Ryan Gravenberch and Vitinha’s statistics from the 2025-26 season

Since Liverpool’s midfield three of Gravenberch, Alexis Mac Allister, and Dominik Szoboszlai is already regarded as one of the best in the world, the arrival of Vitinha would likely turn heads.

Players such as Adam Wharton have been linked with a potential Anfield switch, but a move for Vitinha would certainly be a statement of intent.

When looking at the statistics of Gravenberch and Vitinha in the Premier League and Ligue 1 this season, both have played a similar number of minutes, with each of them being important to the way that their teams have performed.

As per Sofascore, attacking-wise, Gravenberch has scored three while Vitinha has only netted one.

However, the Portugal international has managed to assist his teammates six times, while Gravenberch has only chipped in with one.

Vitinha also tops the Dutchman in every passing stat despite both being heavily involved in games.

Defensively, the Dutchman just about edges Vitinha out, with the PSG ace only beating him on blocked shots (0.2 per game compared to 0.0).

Both players would have a lot to offer Liverpool, but if the Portugal international were to join, it’d be hard to drop one of the Reds’ three main midfielders, especially since they each make one another perform better when played together.
