Arne Slot has some choices to make when it comes to his team selection, especially for the Brentford game.

The Reds will hopefully be riding high into Saturday’s late kick-off at the Gtech Community Stadium after travelling to Germany in the Champions League to beat Eintracht Frankfurt 5-1.

It was a performance much more befitting of the talent that Liverpool have in their ranks, with some special performances from Hugo Ekitike, Dominik Szoboszlai, and Curtis Jones.

However, there was an under-the-radar performance in that match, with Andy Robertson playing really well as the starting left-back, as Milos Kerkez was left on the bench after struggling since his arrival.

Darren Bent says Andy Robertson is one of the best left-backs in Premier League history

The Scotsman was a good choice to start the Frankfurt game as he provided a wonderful assist to Ekitike’s goal in the first half, and he attempted multiple crosses and long balls to varying degrees of success.

Robertson is one of those players who may not get exactly the respect he deserves from the wider footballing world, however, Darren Bent has made sure to give him his flowers following the performance.

Speaking on talkSPORT, the former Aston Villa player spoke about how brilliant his assist was and that, in his opinion, the player will have to go down as one of the best left-backs in Premier League history.

Bent said: “But talk about the pass. I said to you the other week about Robertson being one of the best left-backs in Premier League history right? How he doesn’t start now because Kerkez has not worked, he has to start. To even see that (ball to Ekitike) doesn’t even take a touch down the line first time.”

The performances this season from both left-backs have left a lot to be desired for the most part, especially with Kerkez.

Hungary’s own has struggled less with the league itself, given that he was exceptional at Bournemouth, but more so with the style of play, which he has not been able to adapt to.

Andy Robertson should start vs Brentford but he is not the perfect answer to Milos Kerkez

While the 31-year-old left-back should really get a start on the weekend, it is more likely Kerkez returns.

However, Robertson is not the perfect answer because some of his performances this season have been below what is expected of him from previous seasons.

That will be down to age and longevity in the league, so it has to be accommodated for.

But in terms of Kerkez, he has to be thrown in at the deep end; even if he may struggle right now, he will get used to it.
