Over the years, Liverpool have had some incredible players come through the Anfield doors.
Several members of their first-team squad have been with the Reds through their most successful period in recent memory.
Indeed, some who were vital to the Anfield outfit’s success have been moved on, but others, such as Andy Robertson, are still fighting for their place in the team.
At the moment, Milos Kerkez is Arne Slot’s first choice left-back, but throughout the season, there have been times when Robertson has been called upon.

The Scotsman may not be as quick as he used to be, but that hasn’t stopped him from earning praise from his former manager, Steve Bruce.
Steve Bruce has been left in awe of the improvement shown by Andy Robertson since he played for him
As mentioned, since joining Liverpool from Hull back in 2017, Robertson has been vital to the Reds’ trophy wins.
Robertson has won two Premier League titles with the Reds as well as a Champions League title, with the defender often playing a regular role in each season.
As mentioned, however, the 2025-26 season has been a tad different due to the arrival of Kerkez.
Despite his erratic performances and his inability to keep his head at times, the 21-year-old is still the one chosen to start most games.
Despite becoming Slot’s backup choice, Bruce still lauded his former player and shared his disbelief about how good he’s actually become.
“He always had the ability to, I never thought he’d turn into what he’s turned into, but he’s always had a chance,” he said on The Good, The Bad, The Football Podcast.
“He had an electrifying pace and great energy to get up and down the pitch and a modern-day fullback, if you like, you know, when he got there, crossed it, he’s had a great career.”
Arne Slot has some decisions to make after Liverpool’s defeat to Manchester United
The main problem that Liverpool have faced this season is the poor form of their defensive line.
Kerkez and Jeremie Frimpong were both brought in during the summer, with many expecting them to improve the team.
If anything, however, they’ve actually made things worse, as it’s meant that Virgil van Dijk and Ibrahima Konate have been left to pick up the pieces.
And, since Konate is playing well below his usual standards for Liverpool, this is far from ideal, especially since they were beaten 2-1 by Manchester United on Monday.
| Position | Team | Played MP | Won W | Drawn D | Lost L | For GF | Against GA | Diff GD | Points Pts |

| 2 | 8 | 5 | 1 | 2 | 17 | 6 | 11 | 16 | |

| 5 | 8 | 4 | 2 | 2 | 16 | 9 | 7 | 14 | |
| 6 | 8 | 4 | 2 | 2 | 14 | 7 | 7 | 14 |
Although Robertson may have lost a bit of his pace over the last couple of years, he’s still defensively solid, which means that Slot may have to start playing him a bit more regularly.
Otherwise, they could end up even further away from Arsenal and could end up kissing their Premier League title hopes goodbye.
