Mohamed Salah failed to score in another Premier League game for Liverpool on Sunday as they suffered defeat against Manchester United.
The Reds lost for a fourth consecutive match, with Arne Slot entering a certified crisis period at Anfield.
In the middle of that is Salah, who has scored only two Premier League goals in eight matches, and none from open play since the first game of the campaign.
It is not only the Egyptian’s output which appears to have dropped off, however. His all-round play is suffering as Liverpool attempt to find the best formation to utilise their attacking talent.
That was clear again on Sunday, with Salah missing a couple of promising openings to score for the Reds.
As a United legend, Gary Neville was on the right side of Salah’s disappointing display on Sunday, and spoke out to pinpoint on ‘surprising’ aspect of the Liverpool winger’s current decline.

Mohamed Salah’s technique looks way off
Salah has arguably never been the cleanest of footballers. Nevertheless, he has always been incredibly effective for Liverpool.
Now that the goals and assists have dried up, all that is left is the occasions where Salah looks to be struggling from a technical sense.

This has surprised Neville, who spoke to Sky Sports after United’s win on Sunday to give his thoughts on what’s going on with Liverpool’s Egyptian King.
“Just on Salah, the interesting thing is, obviously questions are being asked of him, whether it’s his age, whether it’s one season too many, all the other stuff,” he said.
“The strange thing in watching Salah is, usually a player getting towards the end of his career, what you notice is the physical decline. I’m not seeing a physical decline in respect of some of his sprints look quite sharp, he looks busy in the box.
“It’s crazy things like the ball comes to the back post, his technique on his kicking and crossing, that’s the thing that looks well off. There’s a couple of moments there where you think to yourself ‘that’s not Mo Salah.’ He has that chance where he dragged a really ugly shot to the left of the post. That’s just his technique.
“Salah could probably play when he’s 52 and still have good technique, so that’s the bit that’s surprising me, the technical bit.”
Jamie Carragher weighs in on Salah decline
Sitting alongside Neville in the gantry at Anfield post-match, former Liverpool centre-back Jamie Carragher also gave his views on Salah.
As someone who watches Liverpool more regularly than Neville, Carragher rightly says that the technical aspect of the 33-year-old’s game has always been slightly suspect.
However, the Liverpool legend questions Neville’s suggestion that Salah is still as sharp as he once was.
“I agree, but even when Mo Salah’s been at his absolute best he can have games where he looks technically poor. He’s one of those players,” says Carragher.
“This is his whole Liverpool career, as fans you put up with it because he’ll probably score two in a couple of weeks. The blistering pace is not there so much, but he still had sharpness about him. I’m not sure that sharpness is still there.”
