Liverpool have some of the best players in the world playing for them this season.

The Reds have had some incredible players grace Anfield since the club’s inception, and currently, in their squad, whether that be long-serving players or new signings, they have continued a long tradition of attracting the best talent.

Two players who have been the most consistent and proven themselves at Liverpool to be club legends are Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah, who have both contributed to the success of the past decade.

They were integral parts of last season’s Premier League win, with the Egyptian having his best individual season, while the Dutchman led the team valiantly from the backline to help produce some perfect performances.

Their value to this squad cannot be overstated, and when they both announced that they had signed deals to stay at the club for longer, fans were over the moon that they could keep a fantastic pair.

Cesar Azpilicueta says Mohamed Salah is one of the best in Premier League history

While van Dijk has received his praises from players from the past and present, Salah has been lauded by most of the greats as one of the best to grace the league, especially with his incredible goal contributions.

Cesar Azpilicueta, a former opponent and teammate of the Egyptian, has now come out and told a reporter that the player is one of the best in Premier League history.

The Spaniard had many battles with the Liverpool star and has explained that there is so much to Salah’s game that makes him such a difficult attacker to defend against.

Speaking to Win Win Sports, Azpilicueta said: “Mo is one of the best in the Premier League History, for sure. His consistency, the amount of games that he has played, and the trophies that he has won as well. Goals he scores, that’s something outstanding.

“When you face him, you knew that you really had to be focused on the game because he’s a player that can dribble. He’s very aggressive. He attacks the space very well.

“Once he’s in the box, he can find a quick shot, really quick, from both right and left foot. So he was someone who kept you on your toes every single second of the game.”

Mohamed Salah already considered a Liverpool great

While he may not always get the recognition he deserves from some corners of the footballing world, it is great to hear the respect for him from people who have had to face Salah.

The 33-year-old will go down as one of the best players in the history of the league, but he is already a Liverpool legend, which means so much more.

Salah will not reach the all-time club record of goals scored, but everything else he has done, the history he has made, the success he has brought is nothing short of amazing.

The day he leaves will be a very emotional one, especially for fans of this generation, and whenever he decides it is time to leave Merseyside, his legacy will still live on.
