Mo Salah will join exclusive Premier League club with goal or assist for Liverpool against Man United

Mohamed Salah is set to face his favourite opposition on Sunday as Liverpool come up against Manchester United.

Despite not scoring a single goal against United during the first two years of his career at Anfield, the Egyptian has gone on to dominate them at every turn.

Salah now has 13 goals when Liverpool face their biggest rivals, with a hat-trick at Old Trafford in 2021 his piece de resistance.

Another goal on Sunday would be extremely welcome. Salah is in poor form and Liverpool are desperate to get back to winning ways, both need to bounce back.

If the 33-year-old cannot find the net against United, hopefully he can at least supply the ammunition for someone else to do so. The Red Devils have often found themselves on the wrong side of some brilliant Salah assists over the years.

All in all, Liverpool’s legendary No. 11 has 19 goal contributions when playing Man United in the Premier League. One more of either on Sunday and Salah will join an exclusive club alongside some icons of the division.

Mo Salah aiming for 20 goal contributions against Man United

Man United supporters – like most Premier League fans – must be sick of the sight of Salah by now.

The Egypt captain has tormented them on so many occasions, and after signing another new contract may have a few more left in him.

Liverpool fans will be hoping that can begin on Sunday, with Salah aiming to bring up 20 goal contributions against the Red Devils.

As per Liverpoolfc.com, that would make him only the sixth player in Premier League history to register such a tally against a single opposition.

Wayne Rooney holds the record, contributing to 23 goals against Newcastle while playing for Everton and Man United.

Harry Kane, Frank Lampard, Alan Shearer and Les Ferdinand have all hit 20 or more as well, with Salah looking to join a short list of genuine Premier League legends.

Cody Gakpo looking to take over Salah’s mantle

As well as Salah, another member of the Liverpool squad also enjoys his best goal return for the Reds against United: Cody Gakpo.

The Dutchman has hit three Premier League goals while facing the Old Trafford side, joint most during his time with Liverpool.

Interestingly, all three of Gakpo’s goals have come at Anfield, with a memorable strike during last year’s fixture standing out.

He may be a long way from coming close to matching Salah, but after a very productive international break, Gakpo could be one to watch on Sunday.
