Michael Olise has emerged as a potential transfer target as Liverpool look to complete their attacking rebuild.
The Reds spent big in the summer of 2025 as they overhauled a forward line which had just delivered a Premier League title.
Hugo Ekitike and Alexander Isak were signed for a combined £200m following the sales of Luis Diaz and Darwin Nunez.
Such heavy-spending from Liverpool feels likely to be a succession plan for when Mohamed Salah eventually calls time on his career at Anfield.
When that day does come, Liverpool are already well-stocked with top players who can carry the team forward.
However, there is an argument that Arne Slot will need a left-footed attacker to help ease the transition away from Salah. That is where Olise comes in, and having been credited with a strong interest in the Frenchman, Liverpool have now learned how much they could sign him for in 2026.

Michael Olise set to cost £87m
Olise has shone at Bayern Munich ever since arriving for a fee of around £51m in 2024.
The former Crystal Palace winger has become one of Vincent Kompany’s key players and is now an established French international as well.

Despite his importance in Munich, though, reports surfaced that Olise may have a release clause allowing him to return to the Premier League in 2026.
According to The i, however, that speculation is totally untrue. They confirm that there is no such clause woven into Olise’s contract.
Instead, it is claimed that any potential suitors will have to pay a fee of £87m to sign the 24-year-old.
Liverpool are named as an interested party, with Real Madrid said to be keen on rivalling the Reds for Olise.
Liverpool can spend the Olise money elsewhere
Bearing in mind that the likes of Jack Grealish have moved clubs for £100m in the not-too-distant past, £87m does not sound like a crazy price for Olise.
The France international has 49 goal contributions in 65 appearances for Bayern and feels ready to go to yet another level.
Olise has been linking up nicely with Ekitike for France, and that would be an exciting partnership to witness at Liverpool.
Nevertheless, the Reds have problems in other areas of the pitch right now. This kind of money might make sense in 2027 for Olise, but Liverpool need to focus on the defence and midfield in 2026.
That being said, if the winger does come on the market and there’s a chance he could join Real instead, for example, then Liverpool might feel the need to pull the trigger early.
