Liverpool have had plenty of players join and leave the club over the last few years.
The 2025-26 summer transfer window was their biggest for change in recent memory, with over £450million being spent on new players by Arne Slot.
At the moment, some aren’t performing to the standards expected of them, but when playing for a team of Liverpool’s size, it’s not surprising to see some players take time to adjust.
The Reds are one of England’s most successful teams, especially now that they’ve won the Premier League title under Slot, and with that comes plenty of talented players.

And, while players such as Steven Gerrard are lauded for their ability on the pitch, others are remembered for different reasons, with Robbie Savage now making a claim about a former Liverpool midfielder.
Robbie Savage reckons that Graeme Souness was a harder player than Duncan Ferguson
Throughout the years, there have been some fairly mental players to have graced a Premier League pitch.
Some are for good reason, while others just couldn’t control their temper no matter what.
One of the toughest Premier League players to be spoken about is former Everton ace Duncan Ferguson.
The Scotsman is an icon on the blue half of Merseyside, but according to Savage, Liverpool’s Graeme Souness was actually a harder player than the former Toffees ace.
Savage was asked by the Daily Mail who he thought the toughest of eight former Premier League players were.
Graeme Souness, Roy Keane, Duncan Ferguson, and Patrick Vieira, as well as others, were named.
The final came down to Souness and Vieira, and in the end, Savage chose Souness to come out on top.
Graeme Souness was a Liverpool great
Graeme Souness had a well-travelled career.
He played 589 games throughout his entire career, with 359 of those appearances coming while he played for Liverpool.
He was only used as a defensive midfielder or a central midfielder during his time with the Anfield outfit, but despite this, he still contributed to 95 goals across all competitions.
Souness managed to win 12 trophies as a Liverpool player, with five of those being league titles.
Although many think he’s a rather opinionated pundit these days, there’s no denying that he’s one of Liverpool’s greats.
Here’s hoping that someone such as Ryan Gravenberch manages to follow in his footsteps.
