Alexander Isak will be seriously concerned after hearing what Graham Potter has said

It’s no secret that Alexander Isak hasn’t been his usual goal-scoring self since joining Liverpool.

Of course, he’s not been fully fit for the first few games of the season, but even with this in mind, you’d have expected him to do more than what he has.

At the moment, Hugo Ekitike has been outperforming him, with the Frenchman more than staking his claim to be Liverpool’s starting number nine.

Isak’s bad run of form has also carried over into Sweden’s national team, with the country losing their most recent game 1-0 to Kosovo.

And, even though Jon Dahl Tomasson has now been sacked, there’s still something that should be worrying the Liverpool striker.

Graham Potter has said that it would be an honour for him to become Sweden’s manager

Graham Potter made a more than solid name for himself as the manager of Brighton.

However, his last two stints with Chelsea and West Ham United have massively underdelivered, with the Englishman’s reputation getting somewhat tarnished.

But it’s not only the poor results that have made Potter out to be a bad manager.

One of the main things that has emerged is his regressive tactics that stop his strikers from scoring all that many goals, which is why Isak may not be best pleased about him saying he’d be honoured to become Sweden’s manager.

His teams are often defensively solid, but while in charge of West Ham, it was obvious that that could be turned on its head.

And, due to his striker’s scoring a lack of goals and often being used as a facilitator for his wingers, it feels like Isak wouldn’t be all that happy with the appointment of Potter as Sweden’s manager.

That is, especially after his most recent performance for the Hammers.

And now, in quotes relayed by BBC’s Match of the Day X account, it seems like Potter would be open to becoming Sweden’s manager.

“I’m open to anything really, where I feel I can help,” he said.

“The job as head coach of the Swedish national team is fantastic. I have feelings for Sweden.

“I love the country and I love Swedish football. I have a lot to be grateful for towards Swedish football.

“So yes, it would be a fantastic opportunity for me, obviously.”

Liverpool need to get Alexander Isak back to his best as soon as possible

The transfer of Isak from Newcastle to Liverpool was one of the most talked-about moves of the window.

Rumours were shared about the transfer from June onwards, with talks failing to die down despite Newcastle insisting that their star man was not for sale.

In the end, things seemed to reach a point of no return, and it was clear that the Sweden international was going to become a Liverpool player.

And, even though many expected him and Mohamed Salah to get on like a house on fire, that has been far from the case.

Neither of the aforementioned duo have reached the levels they’ve shown in previous seasons, and, at the moment, it’s unclear whether they even will.

If Liverpool want to retain their Premier League title and perhaps get to the latter stages of the Champions League, they’re going to have to improve themselves massively.

Otherwise, they could end up falling further and further down the Premier League table.
