Troy Deeney says he disagrees with what’s been said about £34m Liverpool player, he isn’t that good

Liverpool are going through a bit of a rough patch at the moment.

Arne Slot’s men have lost three games on the bounce, and at the moment, it’s unclear where their next win is going to come from.

Several members of the Anfield outfit’s first-team squad have failed to perform to the standards expected of them, which has resulted in some rather poor performances.

The performances of Mohamed Salah have been questioned by many this season, with the attacker not even being the Reds’ main goal contributor.

Instead, that role has been taken over by Hugo Ekitike, with the Frenchman being one of Liverpool’s best players this season.

And now, with Salah’s performances in mind, Troy Deeney has given his thoughts on the Egyptian King.

Troy Deeney doesn’t think that Mohamed Salah is world class anymore

Last season was the best of Salah’s career.

The attacker contributed to 57 goals across all competitions, and that’s without even advancing further than the round of 16 in the Champions League, which is why it’s still crazy to think that the Reds only spent £34million to sign him.

However, due to all the changes that occurred at Anfield in the summer, things have started a lot slower for Salah this time around, with Deeney even claiming that he isn’t “world class.”

“We weirdly agree (on Salah), but there’s a point where we disagree, which is you think he’s world class,” he said on The Football Exchange Podcast.

“I don’t think he’s world class for whatever reason, but it’s our definitions around the world class, whether he’s good or bad.”

Mohamed Salah and Alexander Isak must figure out how to work with one another

One of the main problems that Liverpool are going to face this season is getting their team to gel with one another.

Several new players have been added to their ranks, and seeing as though they’ve come in and replaced such different players, it’s going to take time for things to adjust.

At the start of the season, it was unclear whether there would be an adjustment phase due to how well they started off the campaign.

However, looking back at it now, it’s clear that the Reds’ last-minute winners were just pure luck, which masked the poor performances their team was putting in.

Of course, there’s still plenty of the season left for changes to be made and for things to turn around, but at the moment, the main thing is ensuring that Alexander Isak and Salah can play with one another.

Because if Slot can get his star duo firing, it’s hard to think of a team that will be able to stop them.

That is, especially if players such as Ibrahima Konate also improve their performances.
